Jerusalem Hand in Hand teachers join WAC, May 24th

Some 72 employees (more than a third) of the NGO “Hand in Hand” have joined WAC-MAAN, making it the representative organization. Accordingly, at the end of July 2017, WAC’s National Secretary, Assaf Adiv, notified the NGO that the 72 had signed the relevant forms.

Hand in Hand operates bilingual schools and day-care centers throughout Israel, including in Jerusalem, Kufr Qara (Bridge over the Wadi), and the Galilee, as well as educational frameworks through kindergartens and the first grades in Jaffa, Haifa, and Beit Berl. The NGO is a leading educational and cultural force in Jewish and Arab partnership. Many families that want to provide their children with an education for tolerance and co-existence have chosen its schools and day-care centers.

The 72 signees include teachers from the first to twelfth grades, day-care teachers and their assistants, as well as technical and professional workers. The total Hand in Hand workforce amounts to some 200 Jews and Arabs who possess an egalitarian vision that is shared by WAC-MAAN. The purpose of organizing is to achieve a collective agreement that will regularize the connection between the NGO and its workers. This will contribute to building Hand in Hand, enabling it to strengthen its unique and important activity.
