The panel on Palestinian workers and jobless battling for survival in East Jerusalem and Area C, will be held on Monday, June 1, at Notre Dame Hotel in Jerusalem, at 5 pm. At 6:30 pm, the Annual General Assembly of WAC-MAAN will be held, attended by representatives of affiliated committees and representatives of WAC-MAAN chapters.

WAC-MAAN convenes its sixteenth AGM on the theme of its expanding trade union activity in Israel, among art teachers and instructors, in helping Arab women get work where their rights are respected, in expanding its work to protect the rights of Palestinian workers and jobless in East Jerusalem, and in staunchly defending Palestinian workers in the settlements’ industrial zones (in Area C).

Prior to the AGM, the organization will hold a discussion focused on the socioeconomic reality facing hundreds of thousands of Palestinians, workers and unemployed alike, in East Jerusalem and the settlement zones. The focus on this question is due to the economic and social repercussions of 48 years of Israeli occupation, and the moral necessity that those calling for social justice in Israel must stand in solidarity with Palestinian workers and jobless in East Jerusalem and “Area C,” which is under Israel’s control.
